Honeybrook Falcons

Nick Havemann-Mart our company Director has been a keen Falconer for the majority of his life. What started out as a captivating hobby has turned into an incredible business known Worldwide. With all aspects centred around the ethos that that Honeybrook is a company owned by Falconers, run by Falconers and for the benefit of Falconers.

Honeybrook was started 30 years ago in a derelict poultry farm that had closed after the salmonella scare of the 1980’s. In classic farm diversification the owners of Honeybrook identified an opportunity to breed falcons and so stated a small family owned business that today is producing quality falcons for all falconers.

Over those 30 years the business also diversified to produce falcon food and agricultural machinery that is now carried at the businesses other site in Blackminster.

Our falcon stud has been increasing in size and importance ever since the advent of falcon racing. Falcon racing is very popular, lucrative and well supported venture by many in the Middle East. It was brought about by a couple of falconers who both claimed they had the fastest falcon and now it’s a multinational sport with prize funds that range into the millions of dollars.

This has been fantastic news for the British falcon breeders as our falcons have long been respected as some of the best in the world. Since the races began, it has been proven with the winners list dominated by UK bred falcons year upon year (Happily most bred being fed on Honeybrook food). We must just have the best genetics and methods of supporting the breeding process.

The new sport with its generous prize funds has spurred the demand for falcons with professional falcon racing teams originally trying to contract falcon breeders but recently outright purchasing breeding studs. This past season one of our main competitors was purchased by Sheik Mansour (aka the owner of Manchester City football club).

HB Falcons is an ever-expanding concern. Our falcon stud has just had some major improvements with the support of the LEADER Fund two new state of the art aviary buildings have been built. These new facilities are specifically designed to provide the best environment to our falcons with high tech lighting, ventilation and a wood free construction eliminating the potential for aspergillosis spores. Thus producing the highest quality falcons that in time and training will become world leaders in their sport.

The expansion of our project also aims to tie in with a local College and their Animal Welfare apprenticeship giving local young people an entrance to an industry that is growing, well paid and internationally focused. We as a company aim to support local wherever possible and encourage a new generation of Falconers who have been trained and guided by experts in their field.
